Description

In celebration of the 100th anniversary of the 19th amendment, Dr. Pamela Matthews of Texas A & M University will lecture on Ellen Glasgow and her involvement in the Virginia Suffragette Movement. 

Ellen Glasgow was a Pulitzer Prize-winning author. She lived in Richmond but spent many summers at her family’s Louisa County property, Jerdone Castle, and used the location as a setting in her work. Ellen Glasgow spoke at the first suffrage meeting in Virginia and was an early member of the Equal Suffrage League of Virginia. 

This program has been funded in part by a grant from Virginia Humanities. 

Due to the pandemic, our annual meeting & lecture has been moved to an online format. Our annual meeting and lecture is open to the public, but only current members can participate in the voting in of new board members. Voting will be conducted by an online poll during the online meeting.
