REAP (Rural Energy for America Program)
REAP (Rural Energy for America Program) mostly funds small businesses installing solar PV systems, but the program also funds energy efficiency upgrades (lighting, HVAC, refrigeration, etc). With the Inflation Reduction Act, the program received $2 billion+ for new grants over the next 10 years. This is 3x more funding than previous years. Applicants can get 25% off the cost of these energy systems, and that percentage will likely increase to a possible 40-50% when USDA releases new guidance in early 2023. The program’s aim with these grants is to bring energy savings to rural America.
