From leading local civil rights organizations to being plaintiffs in school segregation lawsuits, their efforts were often overlooked -hidden in plain sight- but were vital to the gains in the fight for racial equality. Discover the untold stories of African American freedom fighters in central Virginia to deepen understanding of women in the movement as a whole.
