Ginni Matern Mastin: President & Founder - Matern Staffing 

Ginni grew up in Stafford and is a graduate of North Stafford High School. She received her B.S. degree in Liberal Studies from Ferrum College in 2004. After graduating from college, she worked alongside her mother, Cindy Duffer Matern, in the staffing industry. Then, Ginni entered the healthcare field and medical sales.

In 2015, Ginni returned to the staffing industry. Two years later she founded Matern Staffing where she is responsible for providing strategic leadership for the company by working with her team to establish long term goals, strategies, plans and policies. Ginni’s broad-based business expertise, dedication to her clients, and willingness to try new things form the foundation of Matern Staffing and the basis for its excellent reputation in the Fredericksburg business community.

Ginni serves on the Board of Directors for the Fredericksburg Chamber of Commerce, Caroline County YMCA, Steering Committee for the Chamber’s Network of Enterprising Women, American Staffing Association Women in Leadership Council, Women in Leadership UMW Colloquium and is a member of Society Human Resource Management.

Barbara Gustavson is Founder of Discover Next Step, and a certified leadership and brain health coach. She works with purpose-driven women and teams where she guides them to be more fulfilled in their roles and leadership, no matter what challenge they are facing. She is author of Permission to be BOLD: A Guide to Loving Yourself, Living Fully and Making Your Make on the World, and coauthor of Breaking Average: The Seven Critical Factors to Team Strong Leadership.

Business Culture:  Louisa County Public Schools has risen to a place where talented, energetic and motivated education experts want to work, grow and lead! A panel of leaders from various aspects of the school system will share how they have all worked together to build a culture that extends beyond the school buildings, into the local community and beyond. The tips and best practices they will share are things any business could implement to help define their workplace culture! 

  Moderator: Dee Jackson, HR Talent Coordinator at Rappahannock Electric Cooperative.

Dee hails from Montpelier, VA and is a proud graduate of Louisa County High School (’04). Dee’s professional HR experience spans across various business sectors, including healthcare and financial services. Deondra received her Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Randolph-Macon College and a Masters of Management in Human Resources from the University of Phoenix.

In her spare time, she enjoys reading, party planning and spending her time with family.

• Heather Spaid = Principal at Jouett Elem. School
  • Heather was born in Charlottesville, Virginia, and grew up in Albemarle and Fluvanna County. She attended Fluvanna County Public Schools and graduated Radford University with two bachelor’s degrees; one in Elementary Education and one in English.  As a classroom teacher for twelve years she taught and cherished her time as a second, third, and fourth-grade teacher. In 2012, she earned a master’s degree from the University of Virginia in Administration and Supervision. She served as the assistant principal at Jouett Elementary School for three years before becoming principal in 2019. In her words: "I am humbled and thrilled to still be serving my Jouett Trailblazer community!

    Education has always been my calling and I am honored to serve the students, teachers, and parents of Louisa County."

• Jaclyn Jacobson = School Counselor at Louisa Co. Middle School
  • Jaclyn Jacobson has 14 years experience as a school counselor at Louisa County Middle School. She is a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) and member of several local, state and national counseling organizations. In her current role she works with 7th grade students to provide social/emotional supports, academic advising, and career readiness development. She has most recently coordinated efforts with local agencies to assist with summer meal deliveries and access to children's literacy materials Jaclyn earned a B.A. from Gettysburg College, a M.Ed. in Counselor Education from the University of Virginia, and a Ph.D. from Regent University in Counselor Education and Supervision. Her primary areas of research interest include: equity in education, restorative justice and mindfulness. Jaclyn's published dissertation explores the Experiences of Low-Income Black Persons with Public School Systems in Central Virginia.
