Lynne Hughes is a nationally recognized grief expert and has worked with adults, children and teens coping with loss and life transitions. Lynne is the Founder and CEO of Comfort Zone Camp, a national non-profit organization based in Richmond, Virginia that offers free weekend bereavement camps for children who have experienced the death of a parent, sibling or primary caregiver. Since 1999, Comfort Zone Camp has helped over 24,000 grieving children.

Hughes has been profiled in numerous media outlets, including, TIME Magazine, the Wall Street Journal, Parade magazine, People magazine and Parents magazine, and has appeared on ABC’s Good Morning America, NBC’s The Today Show, CBS news, CNN, MSNBC, CSPAN and NPR among others and is a contributor for the Huffington Post. Her book You Are Not Alone: Teens Talk about Life after the Loss of a Loved One, was published in 2005 by Scholastic Press.

Hughes was honored as a 2024 Virginia Business Women in Leadership Award, 2023 M&M Flipping The Status Quo Winner and Richmond Times Dispatch Person of the Year honoree in 2019. She was also honored as one of the New York Times 2024 Women in Leadership; Redbook’s Mothers and Shakers 2002, awarded to 12 women (including Laura Bush) who have helped to improve the quality of life in the United States. The Richmond YWCA named Lynne Outstanding Woman of the Year in the Human Relations category in April 2006. Lynne was also a keynote speaker to 10,000 people at the Million Dollar Round Table’s Annual Convention held for the premier life insurance and financial planners from around the world.
