Great beer is at the heart of Cooling Pond Brewery. This veteran-owned, family-owned brewery near Lake Anna crafts approachable, flavorful beers rooted in English brewing traditions, alongside rotating styles that give visitors something new to discover. Several beers take their names from historic local taverns, bringing a little Louisa County history to every flight.

Cooling Pond’s brewing has earned recognition at the Virginia Craft Beer Cup. Boswell’s Tavern Very Special Bitter took first place in the British Bitters category in 2022. In 2023, Contrary Creek Gold earned second place in Pale Ales, and Double Outage Imperial Stout received an honorable mention in the Wood category. Cooling Pond was also named Best Local Brewery in the 2025 Best of Lake Anna Readers’ Choice awards.

Come for a pint or flight and stay for the setting. The tasting room’s stone fireplace makes a cozy gathering spot, while the spacious patio offers fresh air and hilltop views. Wine and cider selections welcome the whole group, and live music gives friends and families another reason to linger.

Cooling Pond is also home to two Lake Anna traditions: 

Lake Anna Jazz Fest in September, which brings musicians and music fans together

Laketoberfest in October, a celebration of fall beer, music and community.
