DREAMS4U was formed in the Fall of 2018 to provide an avenue for the "village" (local business and individuals) to contribute to the minds of students in our immediate area. DREAMS4U is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization approved by the IRS. https://dreams4u.org
DREAMS4U raises scholarship funds for post secondary education for students in financial need in Louisa, Orange, and Spotsylvania, VA. Our initial focus is on students majoring in STEM, accounting, and healthcare.
WHY DONATE? There are usually emotional reasons or factual reasons people donate to any cause. For DREAMS4U our focus is on students in financial need. There could be illnesses in the family, single parents, loss of an income producing member of the family, family is supporting multiple kids in college. Factual reasons are folks look to donate for tax reasons, to feel better about themselves, to feel better about contributing to their immediate community.
WHY DREAMS4U? You are helping students who are thriving, who volunteer, who work, who are doing everything they can but come up short between their financial aid package (which includes student loans) and their cost of going to school which is what they want to do. They want to increase their knowledge and education so they are stronger contributing members to their "village" in the occupation they want to focus in. There are many good causes to contribute towards; they each need to strike a chord or help you believe that you are doing something good for the "village" around you.
DREAMS4U has no employees and is run by volunteer efforts. So 100% of your donation goes directly to the scholarships for these students. Our inaugural scholarships awarded May 2019 were four (4) $1,000 initial scholarships. AND DREAMS4U makes these scholarships renewable each year up to four total years for the students, subject to terms and of course funding.
SOURCE OF FUNDING: Businesses, individuals, and fundraisers throughout the year. DREAMS4U fundraisers typically recommend a $20 donation at the door to contribute to these scholarships. $20 may not seem like much, but if each attendee donates, we quickly comprise a scholarship for a local student.
