Plant Manager
Matern Staffing is hiring a Plant Manager for a leading provider of custom wood packaging solutions at a manufacturing facility in Mineral, VA. As Plant Manager, you’ll lead daily plant operations across production, safety, quality, and team performance to ensure efficient manufacturing and on-time delivery of custom wood packaging solutions. Using strong leadership, operational insight, and a commitment to continuous improvement, you’ll help drive productivity, maintain quality standards, and support a positive, collaborative work environment. This is a full-time, direct hire position that does require some travel.

- $80-$100K

What You’ll Do:
- Lead all plant operations with full accountability for safety, quality, delivery, cost, and overall performance
- Drive operational excellence by improving productivity, reducing waste, and ensuring on-time customer delivery
- Translate company goals into clear plant-level objectives and align teams around measurable results
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement across the facility
- Build a strong leadership team by coaching supervisors and developing frontline talent
- Monitor operational and financial KPIs; analyze trends and implement corrective actions as needed
- Partner with cross-functional teams (sales, supply chain, finance, leadership) to support growth and customer satisfaction
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, company policies, and industry regulations
What You’ll Need:
- 5+ years of experience in plant, manufacturing, or production leadership
- Demonstrated experience overseeing plant-level financial performance and budgeting
- Strong understanding of manufacturing workflows, equipment, and production scheduling (wood or pallet industry experience preferred)
- Working knowledge of safety regulations, quality systems, and inventory control processes
- Experience implementing Lean, Kaizen, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies
- Proven ability to develop supervisors, strengthen bench depth, and build succession plans
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make data-driven decisions
- Effective communication skills with the ability to lead diverse teams and influence stakeholders
