About Duravex

Duravex is a high-growth manufacturer based in Louisa, Virginia, specializing in sheet metal fabrication, welding, machining, coatings, and the design and build of turnkey mechanical systems. In addition to full system integration and production, we also design custom equipment and collaborate with customers to refine and optimize their product designs. Our capabilities include UL 508A industrial control panels and electrical assemblies as part of broader engineered solutions.

Following the acquisition of Piedmont Metal Fabricators, we are scaling rapidly to deliver engineered solutions across critical industries including defense, data infrastructure, industrial processing, and OEM manufacturing. Our capabilities are organized into five strategic verticals: Engineered Plant Equipment, OEM Equipment, Data Infrastructure, Defense & Secure Facility Components, and Contract Manufacturing.

Duravex is building a culture rooted in safety, precision, and continuous improvement—where smart, hands-on leaders thrive.

Position Overview

Duravex is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to own plant-wide manufacturing engineering support for our fabrication and assembly operations. This is a high-impact, autonomous role that blends hands-on process leadership with technical and operational ownership.

You will be responsible for developing and optimizing part routing, tooling and fixture design, and floor-level process improvements—supporting core manufacturing processes including MIG, TIG, and fiber laser welding; sheet metal forming (press brakes, turret punches, rolling, and precision cutting methods such as laser, plasma, waterjet, and EDM); machining; and mechanical assembly. These processes span manual, cobot, and automated systems and are critical to our ability to deliver scalable, high-performance solutions.

In addition, you will support capital equipment planning, operator training program development, and quoting inputs, all while working shoulder-to-shoulder with production to ensure scalable, safe, and efficient operations.

This role reports to the VP of Operations and works closely with executive leadership on key manufacturing initiatives, with high visibility and influence across the business.

Responsibilities

  • Own plant-wide manufacturing engineering support for welding, sheet metal fabrication (laser, press brake, turret, rolling), machining, mechanical assembly, and UL industrial control panel builds.
  • Develop and maintain part routings and process flows to support repeatable, scalable, and cost-effective production.
  • Design and manage tools, jigs, and fixtures to drive efficiency, precision, and operator safety.
  • Create visual work instructions and standardized training materials; support their implementation by the operations team.
  • Provide labor estimates, method recommendations, and technical inputs to support the quoting process.
  • Drive CapEx planning, justification, and successful integration of new equipment.
  • Act as a trusted floor-facing partner—soliciting feedback, trialing solutions, and helping teams succeed through hands-on support.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and lean initiatives; identify and prioritize impactful process optimizations in alignment with business growth.
  • Promote a culture of quality and safety by integrating risk-reducing methods, supporting compliance standards, and partnering with QHSE leadership to uphold operational excellence.

What You Bring

  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering with a focus on welding, fabrication, and shop-floor methods.
  • Strong working knowledge of MIG, TIG, and advanced welding technologies (fiber laser welding a plus).
  • Familiarity with sheet metal forming equipment (laser, turret, press brake, rolling), as well as machining and mechanical assembly processes.
  • Proven experience in methods engineering, process design, and tooling/fixture strategy.
  • Floor-driven mindset—self-directed, collaborative, and confident working closely with operators and technicians.
  • CAD capability (Autodesk Inventor/AutoCAD) is a plus; clear reasoning and problem-solving are essential.
  • Demonstrated, hands-on capability is most important for this role. A degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Welding, or Industrial Engineering is appreciated but not required.
  • Experience in fast-paced, scaling environments or capital project execution is a strong plus.

Why Duravex?

  • Lead practical change—no red tape, just results.
  • High-visibility role with executive access and impact.
  • Join a company scaling fast and building smart systems from the ground up.
  • Competitive pay, benefits, and long-term growth opportunity.
