Louisa County, VA – The Louisa County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) is excited to announce once again the commencement of the 13th Annual Bloodhound Seminar, which will take place from March 2–5, 2025. This specialized training event will bring together 29 bloodhound teams from law enforcement agencies throughout Virginia, as well as teams from Texas, Pennsylvania, and South Carolina. The seminar will feature valuable hands-on training to help law enforcement search, and rescue teams improve their tracking skills and capabilities.

The training will take place in a variety of locations, including the Town of Louisa, the Town of Gordonsville, Zion Crossroads, as well as multiple sites in Orange and Fluvanna Counties. . Residents should not be alarmed to see groups of law enforcement personnel and teams in training scenarios throughout those areas

The bloodhound K9 training is designed to benefit the entire region and to ensure that law enforcement and search-and-rescue teams are ready to respond effectively in critical situations. The event provides an essential opportunity for law enforcement and search-and-rescue personnel to work with bloodhounds in real-life scenarios to enhance their skills in tracking lost persons, suspects, and evidence.  Through training initiatives such as the LCSO Bloodhound Seminar, we continually strive to enhance our capabilities in law enforcement and search and rescue operations.
