"Build It at the Fair!" Inspires Young Minds and Celebrates Workforce Partnerships
Louisa, VA — The Louisa County Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with Clark Technologies, All Things Writing, and the Louisa Forward Foundation, is proud to present “Build It at the Fair!” — a special story time event designed to spark curiosity and early awareness about careers in the skilled trades.
On Friday, August 1 at 10:30 AM in the Heritage Hill Stage at the Louisa County Fair, local families are invited to enjoy a live reading of A Crane Named Steve, written by Katherine Mercurio Gotthardt, M.Ed. of All Things Writing, LLC. Inspired by a real construction crane that captured community attention and imagination, the story introduces children to the world of construction and teamwork in an engaging, age-appropriate way.
The first 50 children in attendance will receive a free signed copy of the story book or coloring book. Following the reading, families are encouraged to explore the brand-new Sand Pit exhibit sponsored by Clark Technologies, where kids can enjoy hands-on fun while learning about the tools and skills used in the trades.
“This collaboration is a meaningful example of how our business community can help inspire future generations,” said Tracy Hale Clark, Executive Director of the Louisa County Chamber of Commerce. “We’re grateful to Clark Technologies and Katherine Gotthardt for bringing this vision to life in such a fun and impactful way.”
This initiative reflects the ongoing commitment of the Louisa County Chamber of Commerce and the Louisa Forward Foundation to support workforce development in Louisa County. By providing engaging, educational experiences for youth, these organizations aim to strengthen the connection between business, education, and community, and encourage young people to imagine the possibilities of future careers in the skilled trades.
The Louisa County Fair takes place July 31 – August 2 at the Walton Park, Mineral. More details are available at www.LouisaCountyFair.com.
