Castle Hill Cider is a 2020 Made in Virginia Award Winner!

11/23/2020

Castle Hill Cider has been named a 2020 Made in Virginia Winner for its Terrestrial 2019. A dry blend of crab and heirloom apples provides structure for citrus notes in this refreshing cider. Rob Campbell, General Manager of Castle Hill Cider remarked, "We are thrilled to be honored for Terrestrial 2019. Made from estate and locally grown fruit, it truly represents our ground to glass approach to producing orchard-based ciders - it's all about the Virginia terroir."

The editors of Virginia Living magazine received more than 200 entries from makers across the state for this year’s Made in Virginia contest, the most in the program’s nine-year history. After researching, reviewing, tasting, and testing all of them, the staff selected a record 38 winners to feature in the magazine’s November/December issue. The winners exemplify Virginians’ skill, talent, and creativity across a broad range of categories, including Food, Drink, Style & Beauty, Home & Lifestyle, and even Dog-Friendly.

“Made in Virginia 2020 features both new and experienced makers who care deeply about their customers and communities, and are making some truly top notch products,” said editor Mindy Kinsey. “For us, meeting these makers and enjoying their artistry was truly a silver lining in this difficult year. We’re delighted to share them with readers across the Commonwealth.

“We received so many outstanding entries that we couldn’t fit all of them in one issue, so look for many more Virginia-made foods, jewelry, personal care products, and home décor items in our 2021 issues. We are fortunate to live in a state with so many outstanding artisans,” added Kinsey.

Virginia Living’s 2020 Made in Virginia Awards are featured in the November/December 2020 issue, which also includes recipes for a feast featuring cranberries, tips for decorating for the holidays and cleaning up afterward, an interview with an Eastern Shore oysterman, seasonal events, and much more. The issue hits newsstands Nov. 13. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
