Louisa County, VA – The Louisa County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO), in partnership with the LCSO Foundation, is excited to announce the Annual K9 5K Run/Walk, taking place on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at 8:30 AM at the Spring Creek Sports Center in Zion Crossroads.
This family-friendly, dog-friendly event offers something for everyone:
In-person 5K Run/Walk
Kids' ½ Mile Fun Run
Participants will enjoy a scenic 5K course with a downhill finish, live K-9 demonstrations, music, awards, and fun for all ages. Families are encouraged to attend—and well-behaved, leashed dogs are welcome!
Special Bonus: Each registered participant will receive a $20 gift card to Papa Jim Soft Serve in Palmyra, generously donated to help support the cause and reward our amazing community.
What many don’t realize is that the LCSO K-9 Unit is funded solely through donations. Proceeds from the K9 5K go directly toward the acquisition, feeding, training, equipment, and medical care of these highly trained police dogs. These K-9s play a vital role in community safety through search-and-rescue, narcotics detection, and officer protection.
“Our K-9s are more than just dogs—they’re our partners in the field,” said Sheriff Donald Lowe. “Every participant helps us keep these incredible animals healthy, ready, and available to serve our community.”
