Credit Union Welcomes Joe Raichel as Chief Lending Officer

Charlottesville, Virginia, March 1, 2021: UVA Community Credit Union is thrilled to announce the hiring of Chief Lending Officer (CLO), Joe Raichel. The new position of CLO reports to credit union President/CEO, Alison DeTuncq and will support the credit union’s strategic direction of consumer, indirect, and real estate lending, as well as business lending and services. 

Raichel joins the credit union with over 23 years of financial services industry experience in consumer and commercial lending/banking and has a strong passion for developing community partnerships with area nonprofits. He has successfully led teams, as large as 35 members, of commercial bankers providing credit, deposit, treasury and other business services to businesses across the Commonwealth of Virginia. 

“I have been acquainted with Joe for over a decade through community service initiatives and served with him on several local nonprofit boards. I have been impressed by his leadership, focus, integrity, and passion for service. I am confident he will enhance our consumer and business lending programs,” says DeTuncq. 

In addition to his dedicated career in the financial industry, Raichel exemplifies the credit union spirit through actively participating in a variety of nonprofit services. He currently serves on the PVCC Foundation Board as Vice Chair and sits on the Governance and Capital Campaign Committees. He also serves the Greater Charlottesville Habitat for Humanity on the Capital Campaign Committee.

 Raichel earned his BBA, majoring in Finance and Marketing, from Kent State University and received his MBA from UNC Charlotte. He resides in the Charlottesville area with his wife, and their two teenage children.
