GRANT: BAMA Works Deadline Feb. 16

Bama Works Fund

Grants made by Dave Matthews Band to support community initiatives.

Eligibility: Applicants must be a 501(c)(3) organization, governmental or religious entity, or fiscally sponsored by a 501(c)(3) organization. The foundation will consider applications from organizations working to benefit the City of Charlottesville and the Counties of Albemarle, Buckingham, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa, Nelson, and Orange. Public schools may submit one application each cycle. Please refer to the Bama Works Fund Policies for more information regarding applications from public and private schools. 

The Fund is most interested in supporting: 

  • Youth Development & Wellbeing
  • Accessibility of Essential Needs
  • Protection of the Environment
  • The Arts and Humanities

The Fund generally does not support:

  • Endowment Programs
  • Fundraising Events
  • Annual Appeals
  • Grants to Individuals

How to Apply: New Organizations: Please visit this page and submit the ‘new organization form’. A member of our team will be in touch with you to get to know your organization and orient you to our grantee portal.

Organizations who have applied to CACF for funding since 2023 – Please email grants@cacfonline.org with your name, title and organization to receive an Access Code for Bama Works Winter/Spring 2026. You will receive the access code and instructions within one day.

If you are a fiscally sponsored project or organization applying for a Bama Works grant, you must have your Fiscal Sponsor review CACF’s updated Fiscal Sponsorship Policy and sign this form, which is to be uploaded and submitted with your application by the deadline via the Grantee Portal. Please direct questions about fiscal sponsorship to kbwenge@cacfonline.org.

If you are an organization applying to Bama Works for the first time and would like to speak to a member of the community foundation team prior to your application, please email Megan Donovan at least two weeks before the application deadline.

Application Window: There are grant two rounds each year. Organizations are eligible to apply once every 12 months. Round 1: Applications open January 5th and close at 11:59PM on February 16th. Applicants will be notified of grant award decisions in early summer.

Round 2: Applications open July 1st and close at 11:59PM on August 12th. Applicants will be notified of grant award decisions in December.

Award Size: Up to $10,000

Decision: June 2026 and December 2026

Reporting: Recipients of Bama Works Fund grants will be asked to report on the previous year’s grant impact and use in the next year’s grant round application.
