Attention Nonprofits: REC’s The Power of Change Funds Available
Fredericksburg, Va. – Rappahannock Electric Cooperative (REC) is dedicated to promoting change within our community, and this includes giving back to others who may have good ideas but lack the resources to fully carry them out.
Twice each year, The Power of Change – which is funded by generous REC members – provides funds to nonprofits and charities across REC’s service area who have the potential to change our world for the better.
“The Power of Change is one of the many ways REC is able to give back to the community,” said Lindsey Edwards, Public Relations Specialist. “The donations that member-owners make go right back into their community to help those in need.”
REC members donate by rounding up their bill to nearest dollar, having a chosen amount added to their bill each month, or gifting a one-time donation. During the last distribution of the Power of Change funds, a total of $93,000 was given to 22 different organizations.
Applications to receive funds must be submitted by 5 p.m. on Feb. 10, 2022. Learn about the application process, guidelines for nonprofits and charities, and more at myrec.coop/power-change.
REC provides electric service to over 170,000 connections in parts of 22 Virginia counties. With its general office in Fredericksburg, Va., the Cooperative operates and maintains more than 17,000 miles of power lines through its service area, which ranges from the Blue Ridge Mountains to the tidal waters of the Chesapeake Bay.
