✨ Reunite with Your Missing Animal - If your animal is missing, check images of strays at our shelter: Found Animals / Strays / Missing Animals | Louisa County, VA  If you see your animal, please contact us at 540-894-4219.
✨ Rehome Your Pet - We encourage owners to rehome their own animals. The following sites may help you find a new home for your pet: Rehome.adoptapet.com, Getyourpet.com, Rehomeyourpets.com, and Home-Home.org.
✨ Help If You Find a Stray - In the past, it was standard practice for lost pets to be brought into the shelter. However, we now know they have a much better chance of getting back home if some actions are taken in the neighborhoods where they're found, before they are brought to a shelter. In fact, the typical reclaim rate for lost pets is only 17% when a pet comes into the shelter. But when a pet is kept in a safe place in the neighborhood where they were found, that rate jumps to 70%. If you have a found an animal and it's possible, we ask that you do not remove the animal from its neighborhood. Please report the information through PawBoost and Lost.petcolove.org. You may also complete a Report a Found Animal form on our website at Report a Found Animal | Louisa County, VA

We're grateful to those thinking of us and asking how they can help. Donations are always highly appreciated. We can put gently used beddings, towels, sheets, and rags to great use and the items are especially helpful at times, like now, when the shelter is full. Donate | Louisa County, VA
