LOUISA COUNTY RECEIVES Distinguished Budget Presentation Award
LOUISA, VIRGINIA – The County of Louisa is pleased to announce that it is a recipient of the Government Finance Officers Association’s (GFOA) Distinguished Budget Presentation Award, receiving a Certificate of Recognition for the Louisa County Fiscal Year 2022 Budget.
Virginia state law requires that county governments pass and maintain a balanced budget every year. Work on a county budget is a year-round process and necessary to support local services like schools, public safety and parks. A successful budget serves as a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide and a communications device.
This award represents a significant achievement by Louisa County. In order to receive the budget award, Louisa County had to demonstrate the highest principles of governmental budgeting and satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation. GFOA states that, “Award recipients have pioneered efforts to improve the quality of budgeting and provide an excellent example for other governments throughout North America.”
The Certificate of Recognition for Budget Presentation was presented to Wanda Colvin, Louisa County Director of Finance.
“Preparing a balanced, well-designed budget represents a considerable amount of work,” said Colvin. “This recognition is validation that our budget exemplifies best practices, which is key in serving our community.”
The Louisa County Board of Supervisors applauded the Finance Department for the GFOA win, with Chairman Duane Adams noting, “The work of Ms. Colvin and the entire Finance Department does not go unnoticed. This dedicated group makes our jobs easier and provides transparency for our citizens.”
