Louisa County Resource Council Receives Grant from Rappahannock Electric Cooperative’s The Power of Change

LOUISA, VIRGINIA – Louisa County Resource Council has been awarded a $3,000 grant from Rappahannock Electric Cooperative’s The Power of Change program.  This gift will fund LCRC’s Kindness Bag project, an initiative to provide essential items for Louisa County residents experiencing homelessness.

“This funding will be used to purchase the basic necessities that our unhoused clients need most.  LCRC has seen a rise in clients reporting homelessness in recent years, and while the shortage of affordable housing in our area is a complicated issue that leaders throughout the community are working on, these Kindness Bags are something LCRC can do now to alleviate some of the strain for our neighbors in need,” said Lloyd Runnett, LCRC Executive Director.

Kindness Bags provide essentials like personal hygiene items, blankets, clothing, as well as non-perishable food and water supplies.  LCRC has partnered with fellow assistance agencies and leaders throughout the county to develop a plan to make Kindness Bags available for distribution.

“We want to thank Rappahannock Electric Cooperative member-owners who round up their electric bills.  Because of this generosity, the CARE Board can disperse The Power of Change grants to organizations like ours.  We thank you for your partnership in strengthening our community by helping our most vulnerable populations,” said Runnett.
