UVA Community Credit Union – Building a Stronger Community

As an award-winning, local, not-for-profit financial cooperative, UVA Community Credit Union has spent the last 65 years building longstanding personal relationships with its members. The Credit Union has helped members purchase homes, send their children to college, enjoy a secure retirement, and give their businesses a financial edge.

They also take the financial well-being of our community seriously. In addition to offering affordable financial solutions, the Credit Union provides a robust scholarship program, free financial education, and free-tax prep assistance to eligible taxpayers. In partnership with Cville Tax Aid Coalition, six Credit Union locations e-file basic returns and help ensure that working families receive their full earned income tax credit. During the 2020 filing season, the Louisa branch assisted more than 130 community members with preparing and e-filing their Federal and State tax returns.

In 2020, the Credit Union was nominated by Louisa County Public Schools and won the Virginia School Board Association’s Business Honor Roll Award which recognized their strong support of Louisa County Schools. To bolster Louisa County Public Schools, they have hosted financial education session at Louisa County Middle School, participated in various school events, including Career Day at Louisa County High School (LCHS), and they operate Lion Nation, a student-run branch of The Credit Union on campus at LCHS. Lion Nation introduces students to careers in finances, supports financial literacy, and teaches workplace readiness skills.

Over 70,000 Virginians are members of UVA Community Credit Union.
