PVCC Announces FREE Spring Semester Tuition for Qualified Students
Charlottesville, Va. – November 5, 2020 – Piedmont Virginia Community College (PVCC) announces free tuition for qualified students who enroll in spring semester 2021 training and courses by December 14, 2020. Those who have been laid off due to COVID-19 and register for specified classes in high-demand career areas including Early Childhood Education, Healthcare, Information Technology, Manufacturing, Public Safety, and Skilled Trades, can take advantage of this limited-time tuition break.
Through the Re-Employing Virginia (REV) Tuition Voucher Initiative, announced by Governor Northam October 30, an allocation of $27 million in CARES Act funds has been distributed to Virginia Community College System schools, meaning free courses and programs in the upcoming spring semester. Virginia state residents who are unemployed due to COVID-19 and have received unemployment benefits on or after August 1, 2020, or are out of a job due to COVID-19 and are now working in a part-time job with an hourly wage below $15 are eligible.
“We are excited about this unique opportunity to help get Virginians skilled up and re-employed. This incredible, limited-time offer means the full cost of tuition and fees for select programs in the spring semester will be paid in full for qualifying students. The courses are in high-demand career fields and can lead to jobs right here in our community,” stated PVCC President Frank Friedman.
To benefit from this opportunity, individuals should contact an admissions advisor at www.pvcc.edu/REV-advising and enroll for the spring semester by December 14, 2020. Visit www.pvcc.edu/free21 for additional details.
