LOUISA, VA– The Louisa County Chamber of Commerce (LCCC), named Sheridan Grime as the 2023 Businessperson of the Year during the Annual Businessperson of the Year and Annual Meeting on June 21 at Spring Creek Golf Club.

Sheridan Grime, co-owner of Southern Revere Cellars, has been instrumental in the business success. In addition to managing general business operations, finances, and social media marketing, Sheridan also takes on the role of a media royalty accountant during the day.

Under Sheridan's leadership, Southern Revere Cellars has achieved remarkable accomplishments. In 2022, they were recognized as the runner-up for the Best Local Brewery in the Richmond Times Dispatch. They have also received media coverage from outlets such as CBS19's Local Business Spotlight, Richmond BizSense, and Virginia.org, further establishing their presence in Louisa County.

Sheridan's marketing efforts and successful grant applications have expanded Southern Revere's initiatives and increased their visibility statewide. Her exceptional business acumen was evident when she co-presented and won the top prize at the QuadTank Pitch Competition, highlighting Southern Revere's success and innovation.

Southern Revere Cellars celebrated its one-year anniversary in December 2022, after transforming a vacant property into a thriving establishment. From working every tasting room shift themselves, Sheridan and her team have grown to employ six part-time staff members, attracting visitors from Charlottesville, Richmond, and beyond.

She played a pivotal role in securing a state-funded grant to establish the Fermentation Farm Trail, benefiting the Louisa area through increased tourism and agritourism. Additionally, Southern Revere actively supports local businesses, nonprofits, and the community through initiatives such as annual road litter cleanups, collaborations with fellow breweries and wineries, and cooperative marketing efforts.

Sheridan and her team have made a lasting impact on the region through various events, including artisan markets, family-friendly celebrations, and workshops. Their dedication to giving back is evident in their involvement with nonprofit organizations, charities, and fundraisers.

The selection process involves a two-step, blind ranking system conducted by a committee comprising members from the business community, board members, and previous recipients of the award. Nominees are evaluated based on their business success, civic/community involvement, and positive impact on the local economy.
